CRICMANIA · STANDARDS & POLICIES

Editorial standards

How CricMania reports cricket, checks sources and distinguishes news, analysis and opinion.

Our coverage

CricMania covers cricket news, analysis, players, teams and the game’s history. Reporting should answer a useful reader question and add verified context, rather than repeat an announcement.

Sources and accuracy

Material facts should be supported by primary evidence, such as cricket boards, competition organisers, official scorecards, disciplinary decisions and original documents. We distinguish confirmed facts, attributed claims, allegations and analysis. Quotations must be accurate and attributed.

Statistics and live coverage

Scorebook and player aggregates describe the matches available in the named dataset, rather than complete careers. Live or current scores must identify their source and freshness. An unavailable feed is not evidence that no cricket is taking place.

Bylines and editorial responsibility

Author pages identify contributors and their published work. Named credits must reflect real editorial assignments. We do not invent interviews, attendance at matches, personal tests or qualifications. A historical byline does not imply a current staff appointment.

News, analysis and opinion

Coverage labels describe the nature of an article. Analysis explains the implications of verified facts; opinion presents an attributed view. Sponsorship and advertising must be clearly identified.

Images and rights

Photographs and illustrations require recorded permission or a compatible licence. Credits and required licence links appear with images. An illustrative photograph is identified so it cannot be mistaken for a photograph of the reported event.

Publication dates

Original publication dates stay attached to their articles. A material reporting update may carry an Updated date. Cosmetic changes, deployments and changes to categories do not make a story new. When a historical date can only be estimated, we label it as approximate.

Corrections

Report a possible error with the article URL, the disputed passage and reliable evidence. We check the report and correct material errors. See our corrections policy for the process.
