No National Anthems at World Cup

London, England (Cricmania) - Teams competing in the World Cup, will not have their national anthem played before the games, said organizers. ``This is a carnival of cricket and we are trying to get away from our old ways,'' said event manager Michael Browning. ``National anthems are very well for other events, but not the World Cup. ``The players just want to get on with the game, anthems are part of old cricket and this is all about new cricket.'' Cricmania believes that it is a mistake not to play then National anthems before the match. "This is the equivalent of the Olympics for Cricket," says Paula Flintohoff. "If they can do it in the Olympics, than why not here?"
